Don't Miss The Ford Ironman World Championship on Oct. 9th!

The most recognized endurance event in the world, The Ford Ironman World Championship, is taking place this Saturday, October 9th near the Holualoa Inn in Kona, Hawaii. Tens of thousands of triathletes attempt to qualify for this Ironman, but only 1,800 succeed. This race is to triathletes what the Tour de France is to bicyclists or the Super Bowl is to football players. Stay at the Holualoa Inn this week and watch as these athletes swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and then run 26.2 miles through ocean waves and lava covered terrain.

Rare Golden Hawaiian Hawk Sighting

This beautiful and endangered Golden Hawaiian Hawk has been frequently seen at the Holualoa Inn which is located on the slopes of Mount Hualalai on the Big Island of Hawaii. Although it is estimated that there are fewer than a couple thousand Golden Hawaiian Hawks remaining in the world, there are approximately 8-9 birds living in the area surrounding the Inn. We believe the birds like the elevation (the Inn is 1,400 feet above sea level), the neighboring Ohi’a trees, and the quiet, natural habitat necessary for feeding and nesting. The Holualoa Inn rests above 30 acres of tropical fruit and flower gardens and Kona Coffee trees; all of which is sustainably farmed without the use of pesticides.
